Center Mount Rinjani National Park (BTNGR) records the number of tourists visit the area of Mount Rinjani, the District of East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in 2009 reached 12,756 people. This amount increases compared to previous years as many as 11,391 people.

"The number of tourists who do nature and hiking tours in the area of Mount Rinjani National Park in 2009 increased quite significantly from the previous year, although the area in alert status," said Head of Sub-Division of Administration, BTNGR, Ketut linggih, in Mataram, Wednesday (13 / 1 / 2010).

He said Mount Rinjani (3726 above sea level / mdpl) is still wary level II status because Mount Barujari (2376 mdpl) which is a child of Mount Rinjani erupted on May 2, 2009.

As a result of the eruption of Mount Rinjani these children, the entire route was closed temporarily and reopened after a recommendation from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation in Bandung.

But it still appealed to visitors who do not enter the climb to Lake Segara Anak area located at an altitude of about 2010 mdpl before reaching the summit of Mount Rinjani, because it close to the location of the eruption of Mount denagn New Finger.

"We've appealed to the visitors but they still make the climb up to the lake on the grounds to see the natural scenery of Mount Rinjani from the region," he said.

He mentioned, as many as 12,756 tourists consisted of as many as 9172 foreign tourists and tourist archipelago of as many as 3584 people.

The visitors were doing the climb to Mount Rinjani through four formal route that has been determined by the government.

Four official route is the route in District Torean Bayan, Lombok District North, District lines Kayangan Senaru in North Lombok, route Pringgasela Timbanuh in Sub-district, East Lombok and route Sembalun Sembalun in District of East Lombok.
